While worship services on Sunday mornings are a vital part of the life of a Christian, we believe it is only the beginning.
Part of loving God and loving other people means putting ourselves out there, that we might “be the light of the world.” We take that command seriously and put it into practice in Bloomington, Normal, and the surrounding community.
What that looks like might vary. You might get an invitation to church while waiting in the checkout line. Maybe you’ll see disciples of Jesus volunteering their time and energy with a local nonprofit partner. Perhaps you’ll notice that we simply like to serve each other and our neighbors, such as providing meals or cleaning for families in need, and/or giving cards of encouragement to those who are hurting. You might also notice that we like to sit down and study the Bible outside of church, to help each other and others learn and grow.
In the spirit of Acts 2:42–47, we also love eating together, whether in homes, at a cookout at a park, or at our annual Christmas banquet.
We encourage every member to explore their own gifts and talents and find ways to give back. It doesn’t matter whether you’re old or young, rich or poor, highly educated or not at all—there’s an opportunity to give what you have to offer.
If you’d like to live life to the full, that usually requires some amount of giving and service to others. We encourage you to join us, explore your personal gifts and offer them in the service of others.
